LITAUEN INDTRÆDER I EUROSAMARBEJDET

Litauen har i dag indført euroen. Antallet af medlemsstater i Den Europæiske Union, som anvender den fælles europæiske valuta, er dermed oppe på 19, meddeler Den Europæiske Centralbank (ECB).

"På vegne af Den Europæiske Centralbanks styrelsesråd, hilser jeg denne yderligere udvidelse af euroområdet velkommen. Litauen har i svære tider truffet særlige foranstaltninger til at nå målet om at indføre den fælles valuta," udtaler ECB's formand Mario Draghi.

Lietuvos bankas, Litauens nationale centralbank, bliver medlem af Eurosystemet, euroområdets centralbanksystem, som består af ECB og 19 centralbanker. Litauen tilslutter sig også Den Fælles Tilsynsmekanisme, som indebærer, at større banker underlægges ECB's tilsyn. Tre litauiske banker (SEB bankas, Swedbank og DNB bankas) bliver underlagt ECB's direkte tilsyn. De har allerede været igennem den omfattende vurdering, et finansielt tjek af 130 banker i euroområdet.

Lietuvos bankas har indbetalt resten af sit bidrag til ECB's kapital og overført sit bidrag til ECB's valutareserveaktiver. Der blev allerede taget højde for integrationen af de litauiske monetære finansielle institutioner (MFI'er) i euroområdets banksektor pr. 1. januar 2015 i offentliggørelsen af euroområdets likviditetsbehov og benchmarktildelingen 30. december 2014. Eurosystemets litauiske modparter kan deltage i markedsoperationer udført af ECB, som annonceres efter 1. januar 2015.

En fortegnelse over banker og andre MFI'er i Litauen, som er underlagt reservekrav, vil snart blive offentliggjort på ECB's websted, som det også er tilfældet med listerne over MFI'er i andre EU-medlemsstater, der har indført euroen. Der er også taget højde for en overgangsperiode fra 1. til 27. januar 2015 til pålæggelsen af reservekrav for de litauiske MFI'er. Aktiver i Litauen, som kan anvendes som sikkerhed i Eurosystemets kreditoperationer, vil også blive tilføjet euroområdets liste over belånbare omsættelige aktiver, der kan anvendes som sikkerhed. Listen findes på ECB's websted.

Litauen optages som det 19. medlem af euroområdet, og det betyder, at det nye rotationssystem for stemmerettigheder i ECB's styrelsesråd træder i kraft fra og med i dag. Systemet forklares på ECB's websted, hvor der også findes en oversigt over rotationen af stemmerettigheder i 2015 og 2016.

LETTER OF INTENT

We wish to use the electronic media and/or print media produced by the European Central Bank (ECB) to disseminate it further. We declare that:
1. Any information or materials received from the ECB will be used for information purposes only.
2. We will not use the “€ OUR MONEY” logo for purposes that could be detrimental to the euro nor for commercial or advertising purposes, and we will adhere to the style guidelines provided in the partnership kit.
3. Any electronic materials, pictures, files or documents provided by the ECB will remain its sole property. The ECB will reserve its or third-party copyrights. We will not pass any information or materials received from the ECB to any third party, except for production purposes.
4. Should we use the original master files of materials prepared by the ECB, we will preserve the integrity of the text.
5. We pledge to follow the reproduction rules for euro banknotes and coins as published in the Official Journal of the European Union and available on the ECB’s website at www.ecb.europa.eu/euro/html/reproduction.en.html
6. If we use electronic media online, we will include a link to www.new-euro-banknotes.eu and we will inform the ECB where the material has been used. We will inform ECB of the material used and will forward the links.
7. If we wish to distribute ECB materials, we understand that the stocks are limited. We will inform the ECB of the number of copies distributed, the means of distribution as well as the target groups.
On behalf of the company/institution mentioned above, we declare that we will refrain from using any materials either in printed or electronic form provided by the ECB until our membership of the Partnership Programme has been confirmed.
We will be liable for any damages incurred by the ECB should we not act in accordance with this Letter of Intent.
We also understand that the ECB reserves the right to terminate our membership at any time.
